Mock Ward Mayoral Election for School takes students from drafting policy through candidacy, speeches and voting; alongside it we run civic education and cleanup outreach classes. Delivery is built on what we learned working with the election administration commission, and runs from two periods upward.

So far: six deliveries, 240 participants in total — three Mock Ward Mayoral Elections in Adachi and three deliveries of Osouji-tai: Protect Your Neighborhood in elementary schools, among others.

The first time your own voice changes something.

A two-to-four-period lesson where students go from drafting policy to running, giving speeches and voting. Built on our work with the election board, it can also use school rules as the election topic.

Osouji-tai Community Cleanup Program

Turning cleaning into an education in public life.

A single-period cleaning lesson built on a curriculum developed with the cooperation of Duskin Co., Ltd. Through cleaning, children build a sense of ownership of shared spaces and public spirit.

Single periods, ceremonies & training

A talk or speaking engagement

For a single period, or a ceremony.

When only one period is available, or for ceremonies and training sessions, we give a talk instead. Elections, youth participation, teens taking on challenges, running a student organization — shaped around your goals.

For schools

What we can do: civic education and cleanup outreach classes, tie-ins with inquiry-based learning, a mock election about your school rules, and shared use of teaching materials. When someone barely older than they are stands at the front, politics stops being about other people.

For example: Adachi Municipal Adachi Elementary School (three fifth-grade classes, cleanup education); civic education outreach classes in public middle and high schools; delivery in an evening division.

Process

How it happens

    Contact Us

    Tell us by form or email what you want, roughly what shape, and when. We normally reply within three working days.

  2. STEP 2

    Online meeting

    We agree what it is for, who it is for, and what should be different afterward. There is no charge at this stage.

  3. STEP 3

    Design and division of work

    A written proposal, a running order, costs where relevant, and who does what.

  4. STEP 4

    Preparation and publicity

    Materials and documents, publicity, and coordination with everyone involved.

  5. STEP 5

    Delivery and review

    Afterwards we share the questionnaire results and a written review, so the next one is better.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost anything?
The outreach classes — Mock Ward Mayoral Election for School and Mock Principal Election — both run two to four periods, at a guide price of ¥30,000–50,000 per delivery plus travel and venue costs at cost, depending on scale and content. For a single period we come as a speaker rather than a teacher (from ¥20,000 plus costs; we work with your program and your organization's regulations). We are flexible with nonprofits. Every fee goes to running the organization and developing the materials, so that a teenager's first experience of democracy is not a one-off. Co-hosted events and curriculum development are quoted by scale.
Can you come during a weekday?
Our members are students, so we arrange it within what their schoolwork allows. We have delivered classes during weekdays before, and dates are negotiable.
Is political neutrality maintained?
TEIGEN JP supports no party, candidate or ideology. What we deal in is the institutions, the process and the experience of deliberating — and our record of working with schools and government stands behind the neutrality of that design.
How far ahead should we get in touch?
One to two months before the date for an outreach class, three months or more for a co-hosted event, gives us room to design it properly. If it is urgent, tell us anyway.
Can you come a long way?
We deliver classes and talks online. For in-person visits, talk to us about dates and costs.
