For Government

Connecting teen voices
to policy.

From co-hosting and sponsoring events, through designing election-awareness work for younger people, to research collaboration on the youth council model that would wire teenagers' voices into policy. We reach, in their own generation's words, the people government finds hardest to reach.

What We Do

Working with government and assemblies as equals.

Government

For government and assemblies

What we can do: Co-hosting civic education events, supporting election-awareness work, planning and writing material aimed at teenagers, and working together on participation mechanisms such as a youth council.

For example: The Mock Ward Mayoral Election, co-created with the Adachi Ward Office, Ward Assembly, Board of Education and Election Administration Commission; support for the commission's own outreach classes since March 2025; contributions to and covers for its publications.

What stays with the assembly: In its own published materials, the Adachi Ward Assembly lists holding the student-run Mock Ward Mayoral Election, and working to advance civic education, among the assembly reforms it carried out in 2023 under “resident participation” (Waseda University Manifesto Institute, Local Assembly Reform Survey 2023: 58th of 1,562 assemblies nationwide, 2nd among Tokyo's special wards).

Advisory roles: We also take appointments to councils, committees and review panels, hearings and formal statements, research collaboration, and study sessions for assembly members and officials. Age requirements, neutrality and how honoraria are handled are set out on Advisory and committee roles.

Process

How it happens

  1. STEP 1

    Contact Us

Tell us by form or email what you want, roughly what shape, and when. We normally reply within three working days.

  2. STEP 2

    Online meeting

We agree what it is for, who it is for, and what should be different afterward. There is no charge at this stage.

  3. STEP 3

    Design and division of work

A written proposal, a running order, costs where relevant, and who does what.

  4. STEP 4

    Preparation and publicity

Materials and documents, publicity, and coordination with everyone involved.

  5. STEP 5

    Delivery and review

Afterwards we share the questionnaire results and a written review, so the next one is better.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you come during a weekday?
Our members are students, so we arrange it within what their schoolwork allows. We have delivered classes during weekdays before, and dates are negotiable.
Is political neutrality maintained?
TEIGEN JP supports no party, candidate or ideology. What we deal in is the institutions, the process and the experience of deliberating — and our record of working with schools and government stands behind the neutrality of that design.
How far ahead should we get in touch?
One to two months before the date for an outreach class, three months or more for a co-hosted event, gives us room to design it properly. If it is urgent, tell us anyway.
Can you come a long way?
We deliver classes and talks online. For in-person visits, talk to us about dates and costs.
