Our executive director, Soka Horii, competed in the fourth NEO Awards, hosted by Earth Day Tokyo at Marui Yurakucho, and received the Award of Excellence.
The NEO Awards exist to support young people working in their own ways on environmental and social problems. Horii's proposal used discarded cosmetics to paint akabeko, the traditional Fukushima craft, as a visitor experience that would bring life back to the area.
The prototype — the "ethical akabeko" — will be on show on the ground floor of Marui Yurakucho from September. Do come and see it.
