Our director, Soka Horii, met Stephen Mensah, Executive Director of the Toronto Youth Cabinet, at Toronto City Hall in Canada.
The Toronto Youth Cabinet is an official body of the city and one of the largest youth advocacy bodies in the world, putting proposals to the city and running workshops from a young person's perspective. The meeting covered what each of us does and how we might work together, among much else.
Stephen Mensah said afterwards that it had been an honour to hear about Horii's passion and determination to see young people's voices reflected in Tokyo's decisions.
TEIGEN JP will go on building serious work and exchange between young people across borders.

A student organization working on civic education and teenage participation in public life, driven by the gap in who gets opportunities. Our mission: every teenager should get to meet the person they have not yet become. Around forty high school and university students from Tokyo and the three neighbouring prefectures run it. Our programs include the Mock Ward Mayoral Election — held in the ward office and the assembly chamber, taking participants from drafting policy through candidacy to the count — and Osouji-tai, which builds a sense of ownership over shared space through cleaning. More than 1,000 people have now learned how democracy feels from the inside.
