Something that felt off.
Something in front of you that doesn't work.
The frustration of watching someone go unheard.
TEIGEN JP began in June 2023,
with one fifteen-year-old's small "why?".
There was no finished plan, and not enough experience.
Only the sense that the ways a teenager's voice
can reach society are far too few.
A question starts with a small "why?"
somewhere in an ordinary day.
A question
opens the person you have not yet become.
Across the three Mock Ward Mayoral Elections held in Adachi between 2023 and 2026,
more than 140 teenagers applied.
Research it.Think it through.Say it out loud.Waver.
And then move your own hands.
In the course of facing a question,
you meet your own voice, your own part in it,
and things you are capable of that you had not met.
What a question opens is not only
a new way of seeing society.
It is also a future of your own that you had not seen.
A question
brings people together.
Different birthplaces, different schools,
different things seen.
One is used to speaking up;
for another, it was the first time
they had put an opinion into words.
But put one question in the middle,
and people whose paths would never have crossed
can sit at the same table.
Teenager and teenager.
Teenager and neighborhood.
Teenager and politics.
A question brings people together across where they came from,
and builds relationships society did not have.
A question
becomes a TEIGEN.
Holding a question is not enough
to move society.
Go there. See it yourself.
Listen to people. Do the work.
Check the facts. Face the people who disagree.
Sharpen the thinking as you go,
until your answer is in words
you can hand to the world.
When a question takes on action and responsibility,
it becomes a TEIGEN.
A question
can move society.
One TEIGEN does not necessarily
change the rules straight away.
It can still change how someone sees things,
start an argument, and call out the next action.
Society moves by chains of small changes like that,
a little at a time.
We are opening the start of that chain
to every teenager.
